Best men's underwear for running?

I generally wear UA boxerjocks. I have large thighs and was looking for something in a brief rather than compression shorts. Of course my first stop was UA, but I don't care for the cut of their sport brief. I just found an insanely cheap multipack of Starter "performance briefs" at WM. They are comfy, but I'm leary of the quality. Is it more "normal" to wear a compression short than a brief?
