Are letters of recommendation, for a sorority/frat, important at Penn State?

Letters of recommendation are important at just about every sorority I've ever heard of. Can you really blame them? Who wants a lifetime commitment with someone nobody knows anything about? Your letter of recommendation is your introduction, a reference by someone who knows you that you'd fit in with that group and be an asset to them. You owe it to yourself to get those letters!
