Seek old review/commentary on Cao Xueqin's novel 'The Story of the Stone'?

Many years ago, before I read Cao Xueqin's the novel initially, I found commentary by a Chinese reader from a couple hundred years ago about the strange addictive power this novel can impose on readers. Can anybody point me back to where I can find his comments? I subsequently read the novel, experienced the addiction full force, and have ever since wanted to go back to read what the commentator so correctly predicted. Any Story of the Stone fans out there?
